Good day my good friend.

Its weeks like this, with two long distance work trips to Glasgow and Lewes, that I wonder why I lived with commuting for so long. Its nothing but exhausting.

Mobility Camp is back, and the number one transport unconference is heading to York on Friday 20th September. Book your tickets now!

I have co-authored a book on Mobility-as-a-Service, which is a comprehensive guide on this important new transport service. It is available from the Institution of Engineering and Technology and now Amazon. 📕

😃 Good stuff going on

Totterdown Street in Tooting is going to be pedestrianised. Which is nice.

What is slightly less nice is the “both siding” of pedestrianising Horwich Town Centre. But I do appreciate the article trying to get a bit of Partridge in the headline.

While its only going to be a bit of paint, a new cycle lane is going to be created next to Cheltenham Racecourse. I look forward to the pictures of people in fancy outfits heading to the festival on a bike.

A new cycle track in Casterton, Greater Manchester, is also up for approval. But again, the court of public opinion seems to be stacked against it.

A very good article on the BBC website shows what can happen when Council’s control buses. It should be noted that the only route for this now is franchising, as the Bus Services Act 2017 made it illegal for council’s to set up their own bus companies.

Hull is getting not only new bus services, but new electric buses as well. Which is nice.

Not to be outshone on this, London is getting more and more electric buses.

It is possible to get around the Scottish Islands without having a car. As this great article demonstrates. I’ve heard great things about Bute, if you are interested.

P&O Ferries has been working to reduce carbon emissions (and fuel consumption) through more energy-efficient operations. And last year, this saved 50,000 tonnes of carbon emissions on its cross-channel routes.
