Good day my good friend.

I’m writing this in the immediate aftermath of the Euros final. I’m sure there are some positive things happening, probably. And I did find a few. Sod it if they are making me happy right now, though. But this isn’t about making me happy now. It’s about making you feel positive. So here we go!

Mobility Camp is back, and the number one transport unconference is heading to York on Friday 20th September. Book your tickets now!  📆

I have co-authored a book on Mobility-as-a-Service, which is a comprehensive guide on this important new transport service. It is available from the Institution of Engineering and Technology and now Amazon. 📕

😃 Good stuff going on

It seems that my home town of Barnstaple is about to get some bus priority. Namely reducing the requirement for the bus to stop at two sets of traffic signals on the main road in from Braunton.

You know how at the height of the pandemic there were pop up bike lanes everywhere? And frustratingly few became permanent? Well, thank Liverpool as some pop up lanes are about to become permanent on Crown Street and Catherine Street.

Trains between Sheffield and Manchester are about to become better, as the Hope Valley Line Upgrade is finally complete. I look forward to experiencing the benefits the next time I travel to Edale to climb Kinder Scout.

Did you know that as of last Wednesday, China has run 10,000 freight trains to Europe this year alone? That’s over a million containers, the equivalent of 50 of the largest container ships no longer sailing the oceans. That is an insane level of service.

Not much on the walking and cycling front, but Jarman Park in Hemel Hempsted is getting a new step-free bridge and signalised crossing. Which is nice, as I know where this work is being done, and I wouldn’t cross it on foot right now.
