Good day my good friend.

One of my favourite TV shows when I was growing up was It Will Be Alright On The Night, presented by Denis Norden. Primarily because it involved celebrity bloopers, and levels of swearing that were just about acceptable before the 9pm watershed. But also because the title really has a positive message to it. Namely that it may all go wrong, but it will all be ok.

This week has been one of those weeks, including the bloopers and the swearing. But ultimately, things work out ok. Even if in a strange way.

I have co-authored a book on Mobility-as-a-Service, which is a comprehensive guide on this important new transport service. It is available from the Institution of Engineering and Technology. 📕

😃 Good things going on

Trams and bicycles…tend not to mix. As shown by our good friend Richard Hammond. Luckily the city of Ghent in Belgium is trying to sort that problem out through a special elastic compound in the gap next to the track.

Places across the UK are going on a pedestrianisation binge. Namely Bradford, Oxford, and Lichfield, as well as potentially Aberystwyth and Newbury.

Removing a bus from Google Maps seems like a bad idea. But when buses are so crowded with visitors and you can’t get on the bus to get home, it can make a big difference. And the impacts on the users of the 116 bus in Barcelona could not have been better.

On a slight tourist theme, bus services in Lanzarote saw a 30% increase in use last year. Hopefully not full of drunk Brits.

The village of Bramford in Suffolk is celebrating getting its bus service back.

Coach operators are now starting a price war between themselves and also with train operators in Scotland. So if you want to get from Glasgow to Edinburgh, Dundee, Inverness, Aviemore and Pitlochry, you can get Flixbus for as little as £2.

A new fleet of trains has just entered service on the Cross City Line in Birmingham.

On climate action, there have been two court victories that show the fight to tackle climate change is a human right as well as a environmental fight. One being in the European Court of Human Rights, and the other being in the Indian Supreme Court.

Bill Nighy said thank you to a cyclist.
